Open Market Data Organisation Releases Direct Edge Feed Handler

Openmarketdata.org - an initiative of the Collaborative Software Initiative (CSI) - has released a data feed handler for the Direct Edge Scratch feed. A community edition is available for free under an open source license, and at a cost for a commercially-supported enterprise edition.

CSI's head of data feed handler development Ross Cooperman says the community edition offers the following benefits compared to alternatives: - Developers can integrate these components directly into their applications enabling the best possible performance. - Availability of source code drastically simplifies maintenance and troubleshooting. Fixes, tweaks and performance improvements become a permanent part of the product, reducing the burden of supporting custom patches.

CSI has previously released feed handlers for the Nasdaq Itch and Bats Pitch data feeds. Direct Edge suggests that Scratch is compatible with the Itch protocol. Direct Edge last month transformed from an ECN to full exchange status, and went live with new trading infrastructure designed to reduce latency. The exchange also selected Correlix to provide latency monitoring.
