Options IT Adds Exegy Market Data Option to PIPE

Options IT, which offers Infrastructure-as-a-Service for buy-side and sell-side firms, has added market data provided by Exegy's low-latency ticker plant to its offering, the Options PIPE platform. That platform provides managed server and storage capacity, and network and connectivity facilities, to market participants looking to host their high frequency and algorithmic trading applications.

“We’re delighted to work with Exegy to provide a managed hosting environment for Options PIPE clients who want to leverage the Exegy Ticker Plant,” says Nigel Kneafsey, CEO of Options IT. “As the race to reduce latency continues to build momentum, our clients are increasingly seeking out market data applications like Exegy’s that provide a competitive advantage.”

Exegy's ticker plant will initially be deployed in three of the company's 15 global data centres, says Kneafsey, who adds that existing Options IT customers were already using Exegy to provide normalised feeds. Options IT already provides access to market data from Reuters and Bloomberg, though not for low-latency applications.

Kneafsey says that trading firms are increasingly looking to outsource their IT operations, either for straightforward cost savings benefits, but also to take advantage of the latest hardware platforms and low-latency connectivity to run new trading applications, without the need to invest in new or refreshed in-house technology, and to obtain reduced time to market.

Options IT provides a range of services, from mundane file and print services, through blade servers from the likes of HP and IBM, to low-latency connectivity to nearly 40 markets globally.

As well as providing hardware and communications capacity on demand, it also supports operating systems and databases, offering monitoring of applications, backups and replications and database administrator services. In addition to supporting cutting-edge trading applications, its data centres also run more traditional trading and trade processing applications.
