IBM is expanding its business event processing software portfolio by acquiring AptSoft Corporation, a privately-held software company based in Burlington, Massachusetts. AptSoft’s business event processing software will complement IBM’s existing SOA software and related services offerings that span the Websphere, Information Management and Tivoli brands, as well as RFID and Web 2.0 capabilities and industry-specific solutions, it says.

Coral8, provider of complex event processing (CEP) software, has joined the Microsoft Startup Accelerator Program. To solidify its strategic alliance with Microsoft, Coral8 has integrated with Microsoft’s platforms and key products, including: native development and deployment on Windows to achieve high performance and low latency; tight integration with Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Message Queuing (MSMQ); delivery of an optimised RTD Adapter for Microsoft Excel; and native implementations with Microsoft interfaces, including .Net Framework, Windows Communication Foundation, Windows Presentation Foundation, Visual C# and Visual Studio.

The International Securities Exchange (ISE) has selected BT to provide its customers with low latency connectivity and hosting for trade execution and market data. BT is opening access to its New York area hosting facility to the ISE, which gives ISE customers the option to co-locate their trading engines with BT to achieve near-zero trading latencies.

Reuters has launched Reuters Data Feed Direct (RDFD) for the Options Price Reporting Authority’s (OPRA) FAST enabled datafeed. Reuters Data Feed Direct OPRA is designed to process more than 1 million updates per second, to leverage OPRA’s FAST implementation and enable clients to reduce bandwidth cost.

Progress Software has launched the Progress Apama Smart Order Router (SOR) Accelerator, enabling traders to create proprietary order routing strategies that intelligently select execution venues from among exchanges, multilateral trading facilities (MTFs) and dark liquidity pools.

Man Investments, provider of alternative investment products and solutions, has deployed InfoDyne’s TPS+Plus feed handlers - featuring direct exchange feeds, ultra low latency middleware, entitlements, Excel integration and a compliment of managed service options - for Bloomberg’s B-Pipe on Demand (BPOD) datafeeds. The solution provides integration of BPOD within Man’s existing RMDS production system.

Following months of speculation Oracle has bought BEA Systems for $8.5 billion, enhancing and extending Oracle’s Fusion Middleware Suite. The Board of Directors of BEA Systems has unanimously approved the transaction, which is likely to be closed by mid-2008, subject to BEA stockholder approval, certain regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. BEA has been an Oracle takeover target for some months, as reported in Pete’s blog on Low-Latency.com on October 17 2007.
