Some 40% of respondents to a recent survey by complex event processing platform provider StreamBase said they planned to increase spending in the area in 2009.

Activ Financial is teaming up with co-location provider Telx to provide low-latency market data and co-location services from Telx’s 111 8th Avenue facility in New York City. Telx is a hub for more than 80% of exchange-directed fibre connections and Activ will house its ticker plant there to deliver aggregated market data to customers, whose own trading applications might be co-located in the facility.

London-based Fixnetix has teamed with California-based Skyler Technologies to launch a set of low-latency consolidated European best bid/offer, trade and order book data feeds aimed at addressing market fragmentation issues for firms seeking best execution under MiFID. The collaboration comes as industry attention continues to focus on market fragmentation and its impact on achieving best execution, and as others attempt to answer industry calls for a consolidated view of the increasingly fragmented European equities marketplace.

This month’s bulletin from the Financial Information Forum (FIF) finds that the CQS one second peak was 25% higher with 88,249 messages per second (mps). The peak measured over one minute was 34% higher at 62,952 mps. CTS hit a new record over one second of 15,058 mps, up 12%.

Beginning December 1, 2008, Dow Jones Elementized News Feed customers will get access to market-moving news delivered in milliseconds. Operating within Equinix’s Chicago financial ecosystem will drastically reduce latency by bringing customers within immediate proximity to the data source.

Thomson Reuters has launched an ultra low latency direct feed to Turquoise, the multi-lateral trading facility (MTF) established by nine leading European investment banks to deliver market data and trading connectivity. The sub-millisecond direct exchange feed for Turquoise is in response to growing interest in multilateral trading facilities.
