High-frequency trading is high on the agenda of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and two recently proposed rule changes could lead to a boon for technology providers. However, industry insiders caution that the SEC must be careful not to leak any intellectual property data it may gather from its increased surveillance of high frequency traders.

Note: This topic will be discussed at A-Team Insight Exchange on Monday, April 26th in NYC as part of a panel session including executives from Lime Brokerage, NYSE Technologies, Infinera, Colt and Cisco Systems.

High Performance Technologies for Trading The highly specialised realm of high frequency trading without doubt is a great driver for a range of high performance technologies that are becoming essential tools for Wall Street. More so than the now somewhat pedestrian algorithmic trading and analytics/pricing applications that are usually cited as the reason that HPC is hitting the financial markets, the world of high frequency pushes all of the barriers, all of the way.

News of 29West's acquisition by Informatica broke on Monday morning (thank you for not trying to embargo the news, which most vendors hopelessly bungle). It was a surprise to me and to many people, but one that hasn't been greeted with much debate or discussion. Unlike the NYSE/Wombat acquisition of a couple of years ago, this one looks pretty straightforward, and sensible. So not a whole lot to write about from a news angle, though it's more interesting in the context of Informatica's other acquisitions and how the data management specialist might leverage 29West.
